Nine months into my tenure as the 2025 Director of Communications, it’s crazy to think about how much time has passed! When I decided to run for this position, I was still a Rosebud, and there was so much about this organization that I was still learning. It was a complete spur of the moment decision, but I’m so glad I did.
In this position, I believe I truly found myself as a leader and discovered my love for communications roles. Drafting our weekly Sunday emails, a core part of this position, is a fun exercise that allows me to flex my creative muscles (and premium Canva account).
When I first began as Director, I used to get so stressed out about the emails, as silly as it sounds. I wanted it to be perfect and worried what people would think if I made a typo. As I began getting more comfortable with the role, I started to think of ways I could make the emails more fun to do and feel like they were from Taylor, your friend in Helenes, and not Director of Communications Taylor. The GIFs are a way I do this.
I include GIFs in our emails to describe my mood, our general vibes as students, or anything I find funny.
Here’s a list of some of my favorites, I hope you enjoy!
The Miss Piggy GIFs
I’m not really sure where my love for Miss Piggy comes from, but I think she’s super fab! I like to use these ones when I’m feeling particularly dramatic and happy.
The Twitter GIFs
I am chronically online to a worrying degree. It’s to the point where I have to delete all my apps cold turkey if I want to actually complete my work in a timely manner. These are my favorite reaction GIFs.
The Beyoncé GIFs
Beyoncé is one of my favorite artists, and a very funny person, quiet as it’s kept. I haven’t used a lot of GIFs of her so far, but stay on the lookout for more!
